Start a black fly bin easier to compost and get protein for the chicken

The problem with composting meat is that it composts too fast. The bacteria in the compost will multiply too fast and cause excess heat, that will stress your micro biome and kill your compost if it gets too hot. It's not some internet myth, this is proven fact from a very very long line of farmers.

Put too many dead proteins like that and youll get unwanted biom species. Usually anaerobic

Trying to ferment my chicken food. I’ve been stirring and keeping it covered with water and lid. It’s working and bubbling. Over night I get a white substance on top. I can stir it in. Back the next morning, is this good or bad? I haven’t fed the Chickens yet. Been going for about 5-6 days

You can probably also sow alfalfa in those swales, it fixes nitrogen and has plentiful, beautiful flowers

My family has a garden that is about 2500ft², And every single year we add an inch or two of chicken manure, and till it in, Then add just a touch more on top. I am 100% convinced if it won't grow in that garden, It simply won't grow.

Totally agree, more people need to be growing more of their own food. I think you did a good job articulating that. The things we cant grow or raise ourselves we should be trying to buy local. One step at a time to get there.

Amen Brother! I hear you 100%. I often struggle with the idea of pulling the plug on market gardening as well. My wife and I both work full time jobs, and what started as a hobby has turned into a full on business. Although it’s rewarding and definitely profitable after 5 years of growth, spending time with my daughter and having a little more free time is definitely appealing. Time will tell for me I guess, but happy you’re doing what makes you happy! Best of luck!
